En su primer año de vida, Mareira Bizi ya ha conseguido dar el salto internacional. La gallega Elena Fontán es una de las socias del proyecto. Iratxe Rubio y Elena Fontán se conocieron trabajando en la Universidade de Vigo. Allí formaban parte de un grupo puntero a nivel internacional conocido como Future Oceans Lab desde el que investigaban y proponían «soluciones para adaptar los sistemas marinos a los impactos del cambio climático» y tras esa experiencia, este año decidieron iniciar el proyecto de Mareira Bizi.

Today, the #OceanWorldDay is the perfect date to initiate our new and exciting adventure, committed to the sustainability of the oceans through innovation. MareiraBizi is a cooperative born in 2021 to support fisher guilds, enterprises, and the administration in their path to sustainable fisheries. Besides, we offer our services to research groups in order to develop research, transfer results to the private sector and disseminate scientific findings. After 4 months of work, #MareiraBizi was selected one of the three finalist of the Blue Entrepreneurship Programme of the Atlantic Maritime Ecosystem Network – MarENet Project. We would like to thank all the #MarENetBEP team to support our business model and give us the opportunity to be part of this adventure!
